Information Sessions for Internationally Educated Teachers
The College offers online information sessions to help internationally educated teachers who would like to become Ontario Certified Teachers. Each of the three sessions covers different topics related to applying to the College and teaching in Ontario. More information about each session can be found below.
Applying to the College
This session will help you understand how to apply for certification.
Before the session, please read the registration guide that applies to you and watch the video Applying to the College before submitting your questions for the session.
How to register: Choose the date of the session you want to attend and complete your registration.
Ask us questions: You can submit your questions in advance as part of your registration.
Register early as space is limited. If a session is full, you can register for the next scheduled session.
All sessions will be 60 minutes, unless otherwise indicated.
Obtaining Documents to Complete Your Application
This session offers advice to internationally educated teachers who have applied to the College but need to know how to obtain required documents.
In this session, we will:
- help you understand what documents are required for certification
- highlight documents that must be sent directly to the College from granting institutions such as academic transcripts and statements of professional standing
- discuss required documents, acceptable formats, and our translation policy
- provide tips on how to obtain documents from international institutions.

How to register: Choose the date of the session you want to attend and complete your registration. You will need to provide your application/registration number as part of your registration.
If you have not applied to the College and need help understanding the application process, please attend the Applying to the College session first.

All sessions will be 30 minutes, unless otherwise indicated.
Preparing to Teach in Ontario - For Members Only
If you are an internationally educated teacher and have been certified by the College, you are encouraged to attend this session for new Ontario Certified Teachers.
It will provide information on:
- understanding your Certificate of Qualification and Registration and any conditions
- adding qualifications to your Certificate of Qualification and Registration
- understanding your professional responsibilities as an Ontario Certified Teacher
- accessing ongoing learning through Additional Qualification courses
- applying for teaching positions in Ontario district school boards and school authorities.
To attend, you must be in good standing with the College.
College staff and school board representatives will answer any questions submitted during registration and throughout the session.
