The commitment

The time commitment for committee and roster members varies based on the volume of matters to be considered but typically ranges from 10-30 days a year.
Why get involved?
There are many benefits to getting involved:
- Support the public interest: Only licensed teaching professionals — Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs) — can teach in the province’s publicly funded elementary and secondary schools. In Ontario, there are more than two million students attending these schools. The College’s governing body ensures the College meets its public interest mandate of protecting students and supporting their well-being.
- Grow your professional and regulatory expertise: By applying and serving, you have the opportunity to use and grow your professional experience and knowledge in regulation and education.
- Make a difference in education: Members of Council, committees and rosters make a tangible difference in the regulation of the teaching profession and in student protection and well-being.
