- Document Translation
The College only accepts documents in English or French.
You must translate documents in any other language before submitting them. This includes your teaching certificate and any supporting documents, such as a marriage certificate or a birth certificate.
Include the original translation for any documents you submit yourself.
Please note: If your documents are sent directly to us by a granting institution, a copy will be mailed to you for translation.
Submitting your translations
When submitting translations, please include:
- a copy of the foreign-language document
- the translation
- an original, signed letter from the translator.
The letter from the translator must include:
- a statement indicating the translation is accurate and authentic
- your translator’s ID number, seal or both
- your translator’s name, address and telephone number
- your translator’s original signature.
Translation organizations
Your translator must work for, or be accredited by, one of these approved organizations:
- the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO)
- the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ)
- a professional association of translators in Canada
- a Canadian embassy, consulate or high commission in the country from which the document comes
- the embassy, consulate or high commission to Canada of the country that issued the document
- a federal, provincial or municipal government in Canada
- COSTI translation services, if no other certified translator is available
