There are many ways members of the public can contribute to protecting the safety and well-being of Ontario students by participating in the work of the College.

Apply to governance

Applications for governance positions are accepted year-round and are held for review until the annual selection process, which occurs at the end of the calendar year.

The College uses a competency matrix to identify the essential skills, professional backgrounds and lived experiences required to effectively regulate the profession in a way that reflects Ontario’s diversity.

Provide feedback on AQ guidelines

The College periodically reviews and updates guidelines for Additional Qualifications (AQ) courses. The process includes literature reviews, surveys, writing teams and other approaches. This work involves members of the profession, the public and education system partners.

If you’d like to participate in the review process, please refer to the draft guidelines that are currently open for feedback.

Developing AQ guidelines

If you would like to help develop AQ course guidelines, please review the selection criteria, roles and responsibilities, and then complete and submit the Expression of Interest Form. We will notify you about any available opportunities.

Accreditation review feedback

The College periodically reviews Ontario teacher education programs to verify that they continue to meet regulatory requirements for accreditation. Under the legislation that governs this work, accreditation panels are required to provide the public a chance to offer input on the quality of the program.

Please review the list of accreditation reviews that are open for feedback and subscribe to receive email alerts when new accreditation reviews are added.

Attend an online hearing

Disciplinary hearings are generally open to the public and held via videoconference. Notices of Hearing are posted to the hearing schedule as soon as the member of the College has been served. You can find all the details related to attending a hearing on the hearing schedule.

Invite a speaker

Need some College expertise at your next event, workshop or staff meeting? College speakers are available to cover a wide range of topics related to our mandate.

Observe a College Council meeting online

The College welcomes members of the public to observe Council meetings. Council meetings are livestreamed on the College’s YouTube channel. Registration is not required. Please refer to our schedule of upcoming Council meetings if you are interested in observing.
