The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates Ontario's teaching profession in the public interest.
Teachers who work in publicly funded schools in Ontario must be certified to teach in the province and be members of the College.
The College sets ethical standards of practice, issues teaching certificates and may suspend or revoke them, accredits teacher education programs and courses, and investigates and hears complaints about members.

The Ontario College of Teachers is pleased to offer a number of library services to all College members, regardless of where they live.
The Margaret Wilson library has over 13,000 resources in both English and French, including ebooks, DVDs and online databases. Our materials cover a range of professional development topics including special education, classroom management, social justice, leadership, and more. We have books aimed at teaching students of all grades and ages. Check out our books on popular school subjects like mathematics, English, French, social sciences, and science.
Library materials may be borrowed in person, over the phone or requested through our catalogue using your OCT number and password. We ship out requested items every day to members across the country. This popular service is free and includes return packaging and labels. Members are also welcome to use the library in person at our Toronto office to take advantage of the free WIFI, desktop computers and printing services available in our quiet space.
