Investigation Committee

The Investigation Committee considers, and if necessary, investigates all complaints made to the College about its members.

When an investigation is completed, the matter is considered by a panel of the Investigation Committee. Neither the member nor the complainant is present at this meeting. According to the information it receives, the Committee may decide to:

  • dismiss the complaint
  • ratify a Memorandum of Agreement reached through Complaint Resolution
  • caution or admonish the member in writing or in person
  • provide written reminders or advice
  • refer the matter in whole or in part to the Discipline Committee for a hearing (incompetence or professional misconduct)
  • refer the matter to the Fitness to Practise Committee for a hearing (if the information indicates that there may be health-related issues affecting the member’s ability to teach).

The Registrar sends the written decision to the member, the complainant and the member's current employer.  The College may also send the written decision to the employer who reported the matter.
