Francine Dutrisac named Co-ordinator of French Language Services and responsible for External Relations

May 11, 2007 (Toronto) – Brian McGowan, Registrar of the Ontario College of Teachers and Bernard Lavallée, Director of Education of the Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud, are pleased to announce the appointment of Francine Dutrisac to the position of Co-ordinator, French-Language Services at the College for two years effective August 15, 2007.

Ms. Dutrisac will be responsible for French-language services as well as the College’s external relations.

College Registrar Brian McGowan noted that, "The College is constantly trying to find ways to improve its services to Francophone members. The appointment of Francine Dutrisac will add a new dimension to the quality of our French-language services."

With 29 years of experience in education, Dutrisac is the current Superintendent of Education and Human Resources for the Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud.

"She has extensive experience, having implemented a number of initiatives related to such areas as new teacher induction and professional learning communities as well as the retention of teachers and students.  These activities are a testament to her strong commitment to the advancement of the teaching profession," said Bernard Lavallée.

In addition to taking on the role of co-ordinator of the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test at the Education Quality and Accountability Office, she has been a school principal for 11 years in French-language and English-language boards at both the elementary and secondary levels.

Dutrisac holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Toronto and a BA in social science from York University. She has taken the teacher training program at Laurentian University.

The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates the profession of teaching in the public interest. It sets standards of practice and ethical standards, conducts disciplinary hearings and accredits teacher education programs affecting its 206,000 members in publicly funded schools and institutions across Ontario. The College is the largest self-regulatory body in Canada.
