College tells parents its story during Word on the Street festival

Word on the street is that the Ontario College of Teachers will have a booth at Toronto’s Word on the Street festival on September 23rd.

Stroll on by booth 197 near Grosvenor Street and Queen’s Park Crescent between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., say hi to the staff and pick up some of our materials.

 

Look for OCT — the mark of professionalism for Ontario teachers

Nurses have them. Accountants and engineers do too. Professional designations, that is.

You’re familiar with RN, CA and P.Eng as recognized abbreviations for Ontario’s regulated professionals. Now you can look for OCT to signify “Ontario Certified Teacher” on email, letters, report cards and school communications coming from certified, qualified Ontario College of Teachers members.

College Conference welcomes parents to hear education and self-regulation experts

Stephen Lewis, one of Canada’s most influential commentators on social affairs and human rights, headlines a list of outstanding speakers at the College’s Inspiring Public Confidence conference, November 21-23 in Toronto.

Join leaders from education and the regulatory world to hear an internationally recognized lineup of educators, researchers, regulators and policy makers. Register by October 1st to receive the early bird rate of $150.

 

Nominate a person, group or organization for an Inspiring Public Confidence award

Do you know an individual, group, agency or institution operating within the public education sector in Ontario that significantly contributed to the public’s confidence in Ontario education over the last year?

Nominate them for the Inspiring Public Confidence award. The recipient will be honoured at the College conference in Toronto on November 21-23 and will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations will be accepted until October 1.

 

College accredits initial teacher education programs in 17 Ontario faculties

Did you know that the College accredits 48 initial teacher education programs in faculties and schools of education at 17 Ontario universities?

By law, the College is responsible for ensuring that Ontario’s faculties of education meet uniform standards and expectations for teaching those who want to become teachers.
