Building support for Bill 103, The Protecting Students Act

The new Protecting Students Act contains the most significant amendments to OCTA since the College was established in 1997.
If passed, Bill 103 will reinforce the College's ongoing efforts to strengthen its investigation, disciplinary and reporting processes.

Learn more about the Act and what people are saying to support it.

College is working to support new program

Recent regulatory changes have helped to define the enhanced teacher education program that will come into effect in September 2015. The amendments define the duration – including 80 days of practice teaching time – and new content that prospective teachers will study to equip them for tomorrow's classrooms.

Philanthropy: Canadian teens give back

  • 60 per cent want to make the world a better place
  • 61 per cent say parents / family members are their charitable role models
  • 84 per cent volunteer at least 5 hours a year to charitable causes - much higher than Canada's national average of 42 per cent

Exemplary OCT: Crunching numbers

Meet Harriet Simand, OCT, the creative mind behind the expanding appetite for math at Canada's oldest all-girls' school. From “Ship the (potato) Chip” – an assignment that teaches geometry and measurement – to baking cookies – an exercise in algebra, Simand uses a creative and fun, problem-based approach to teach.

Amazing artwork

Students from West Collegiate and Vocational Institute used everything from crayon to yarn to create an amazing art exhibition, currently on display at the College. To showcase art from your child's school, please contact Maala Nair 416-961-8800 or toll free at 1-888-534-2222, ext. 604 or by email at mnair@oct.ca.

Electronic complaint form

The College now has a simpler way to submit and process legitimate complaints or concerns of professional misconduct. The new online complaint form is an intuitive and interactive platform that helps to determine if the College's Investigations and Hearings department is the appropriate body to address a concern about a member.
