Accreditation Committee Decision
York University
In accordance with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs,
the Accreditation Committee, at its September 29, 2004 meeting, granted general
accreditation to the Concurrent Program of Professional Education and the Consecutive
Program of Professional Education offered at York University, for a period
of five years(2009).
Also, in accordance with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education
Programs, the Accreditation Committee granted initial accreditation to the
Proposed Program of Technological Studies, for a period of two years (2006)
or the period of time ending on the graduation of the second class of students
enrolled in the program, whichever is the longer period of time, but not to
exceed three years (2007).
In making its decision the Committee considered:
- the final report of the accreditation panel;
- the responses of the Faculty of Education of York University, dated June
28 and September 21, 2004, to the panel’s draft and final reports;
- regulatory requirements of Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher
Education Programs, and Regulation 184/97, Teachers’ Qualifications.
Expiry of Initial Accreditation of Program of Technological Studies
On May 1, 2007, the Registrar was notified by the Dean of the Faculty of Education at York University that the
Program of Technological Studies granted initial accreditation on September 29, 2004 was not implemented, and that the
Faculty did not intend to apply for renewal of accreditation.
Amendments to Expiry Date
In accordance with the May 1, 2009 amendment to the accreditation period for programs of professional education in the Accreditation Regulation, the expiry dates for the accredited programs on that date are amended to September 29, 2011.
Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs
May 1, 2009
On June 23, 2009, the Accreditation Committee and the Faculty of Education at York University agreed to shorten the general accreditation period for the accredited programs to September 29, 2010 to enable the submission of a new application for accreditation at the same time as the application for renewal of accreditation of existing programs.
