Schedule A: One-session Additional Basic Qualifications

Members: for any AQ-related questions, please visit our ‘Ask a Question’ page.

Teachers certified in Ontario are usually qualified to teach in two consecutive divisions: Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate or Intermediate/Senior.

A teacher may earn an Additional Basic Qualification by completing the respective course offered at a faculty of education.

The underlying purpose of an additional basic qualification course is to extend the skills and knowledge of teachers in the design, delivery and assessment of a program within a particular division.

Candidates who want to pursue a more in-depth investigation into a particular subject or division can take a three-session Additional Qualification program (Schedule D) that consists of Part I, Part II and Specialist related to that subject or division.

Click on a subject name below for links to the most up-to-date guidelines available, as well as information on status and release cycles. Release dates are based on current estimates and may change.
