Bill 48, The Safe and Supportive Classrooms Act receives third reading and Royal Assent
On April 3, 2019, Bill 48, the Safe and Supportive Classroom Act received Royal Assent. The passage of the Bill will contribute to the enhancement of student safety and change the College's governance structure. Read more about the legislation here.

The College has a new advisory for Ontario Certified Teachers about how to support students with mental health concerns.
 
To promote discussion, the College is hosting panel discussions with local experts in various Ontario communities, including Thunder Bay and Sudbury in April.

The College's Investigation Committee reviewed a complaint about a teacher who allegedly shared a personal anecdote with students that was demeaning to members of the LGBTQ community.

Myth: Part of the College's mandate includes overseeing the hiring of teachers in Ontario.
 
Fact: School boards are responsible for teacher employment, however, the College publishes an annual study on employment outcomes for newly certified Ontario teachers.
