The Ontario College of Teachers, Ontario’s teaching regulator,
welcomes your involvement in our governance process.
Like accounting, nursing and engineering, teaching is a regulated
profession. In Ontario, this means the College oversees more than 230,000
Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs) working in all publicly funded
elementary and secondary schools as well as some private schools.
Like the self-regulatory bodies overseeing the accounting, nursing and
engineering professions, we are also overseen by a governing body and
funded by licensing fees.
