The Chair, Liz Papadopoulos, called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. and welcomed all present.

That the Agenda for the July 28, 2009 Special Meeting of Council be approved.

4. Business

4.1 Proposed Amendments to the Ontario College of Teachers Act re the Application of Reinstatement Provisions to Individuals who were Previously Cancelled by the Minister of Education

The Briefing Note on the Ministerial Cancellation of Ontario Teachers’ Certificates (OTC’s)/Letters of Standing was received. The Registrar spoke to the report and answered questions.

It was moved by Robert Ryan, seconded by Marc Dubois, and

CARRIED,

That Council support an amendment to the Ontario College of Teachers Act (OCTA) requiring a person whose Certificate of Qualification or letter of standing was suspended or cancelled by the Minister before May 20, 1997 under paragraph 13 of subsection 8(1) of the Education Act to reapply pursuant to the provisions of Section 33 of the OCTA.
