1. Call to Order/Welcome

The Chair, Liz Papadopoulos, called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. and apologized for the delay in starting the meeting which was due to technical difficulties. The Registrar took a roll call vote to establish attendance.

It was moved by Dean Favero, seconded by Garry Humphreys, and

That the Agenda for the February 23, 2011 Special Meeting of Council be approved.

4. Business

4.1 Professional Advisory on the Use of Electronic Communication and Social Media (GC20110223-2)

The Professional Advisory on the Use of Electronic Communication and Social Media was received. The Registrar advised members that as per the December 9-10, 2010 recommendation of Council, the Investigation, Discipline and Fitness to Practise committees had reviewed the advisory. The draft advisory incorporated the comments and suggestions of these committees and those of the Quality Assurance and Standards of Practice committees. The Registrar advised members that a few further grammatical changes would be made to the French translation.

It was moved by Robert Ryan, seconded by Bill Matheson, “That Council approve the issuance of the Professional Advisory on the Use of Electronic Communication and Social Media as contained in document
GC20110223-2C, Attachment 1.”

It was moved by Terry Price, seconded by Clint Lovell, but it was

LOST,

That Council request that all references to child pornography and prostitution be removed by staff prior to the final release of the advisory.
