Rebecca Forte teaches Grade 1 at the Toronto District School Board’s Swansea Public School.
She has devoted most of the last 30 years to teaching Kindergarten, but has also taught Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 and has served as an elementary-level guidance teacher.
Passionate about the outdoors, Forte is interested in hands-on, integrated learning and focuses on experiential learning outside the traditional classroom.
She is an Associate Teacher, has served as a curriculum chair for Kindergarten and Primary divisions, been part of the Ministry of Education’s Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat, and was involved in the development of the Education Quality and Accountability Office.
She remains active in school and community organizations, often recruiting colleagues in new adventures. Most recently Forte has been involved with the Runnymede Health Care Centre, combining and creating intergeneration programs for students and patients.
In addition to earning her degrees, Forte has attended the Rotman School for Integrative Thinking and is currently taking college courses part-time out of personal interest.
Certified to teach in Ontario in 1991, Forte holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education, a BA, BEd, and MEd.
She was elected to Council in 2018 and serves on its Accreditation and Discipline committees.
