Council Meeting Protocol

Council meetings are conducted in public and the media are welcome to attend.

The Communications Unit is the contact for media inquiries regarding Council meetings.

To facilitate full and balanced media coverage, Communications staff will provide information and assistance to journalists before, during and after Council meetings in accordance with the College’s media relations policy.

Communications staff will provide the media with a copy of the meeting agenda and any documents available to other observers.

1. Upon arrival, the media must sign in with the information centre on the 14th floor. They will be provided with a visitor's pass to the Council chambers and are asked to display the pass at all times.
   
   
2. Seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
   
   
3. Smartphone ringers must be turned off or muted. Laptop computers and texting is permitted. Talking during proceedings is not.
   
   
4. Journalists who wish to record or photograph the proceedings must advise College staff in advance. Staff will advise the Council Speaker of the request.
   
   
5. The College will provide sound feeds to assist reporters who wish to audio record the public proceedings.
   
   
6. The main lobby may be used to accommodate requests for interviews and additional photography.
   
   
7. Public washrooms are available for use on the 15th floor.
   
   
8. Visitors must return their passes to the information centre at the end of their visit.
