Please read all instructions before completing the application form.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

You can apply as of March 1, 2012. Applications will be received until 5pm Friday, July 13, 2012.

  1. The application form should include references to background and experiences that are relevant to the profession of teaching. These may include but are not limited to:

    • teaching art, music or dance
    • assisting in a classroom
    • coaching sports
    • teaching literacy, ESL or other second or third languages
    • working as a museum instructor or guide
    • working as a camp counsellor or with those having special needs
    • volunteer service in a community setting.
  2. It is important that you describe what you have learned from your experiences and how they have prepared you for the profession of teaching.

  3. Make a copy of your application for your records since all documents submitted to the Ontario College of Teachers become the property of the College and will not be returned.

Decisions to award the scholarship are based equally on two factors:

  1. the applicant's academic qualifications

  2. information provided by the applicant on the application form about her or his experience and community involvement.

Required Documents

All applicants must submit the following documents in support of their application:

  1. A copy of recently issued official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions. Photocopies or facsimiles of transcripts are acceptable. The successful candidate will be required to arrange for the delivery of official transcripts directly from the granting institutions.

  2. Fully completed application form. Applicants are asked to describe their experiences and community involvement related to the profession of teaching. The form may be downloaded here.

  3. Reference letters. Following a specified format, applicants must provide references from three individuals:

    • a person who has known the applicant as a student
    • a person who has known the applicant as an employee and
    • a person who knows the applicant personally (Letters of reference from family members are not accepted.)

All documents received in support of an application for the scholarship remain the property of the Ontario College of Teachers and will not be returned.

Your application and all supporting documents should be sent in one package to the attention of:

You will receive an e-mail acknowledging receipt of your application package.

All applicants will be informed by regular mail in October, once the award recipient has been chosen.
