Canadian Criminal Record Check Report

To protect students and help ensure teachers are worthy of the trust placed in them, you must provide an original report of a Canadian criminal record check.

The report must show that a search was done on all names you are currently using or have used. This includes:

  • the name on your College application form
  • your name at birth as listed on your proof of identity document
  • your maiden name
  • all former names if applicable.

To obtain a Canadian criminal record check report ask your local or regional police service anywhere in Canada. They will use the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database to generate the report.

The report must:

  • say a search was done using the CPIC database
  • not be older than six months from the date the College receives it.

A criminal record does not necessarily mean that you will not be certified. The College considers each case on its merits. If your report indicates a criminal record, include a detailed written and signed explanation with your application.

All applicants must provide full details of any criminal offence in any jurisdiction with their application form.

Providing false or incomplete information is professional misconduct.
