Evaluation of Your Credentials
Certification
Once the College has received your application and all required documents, we will evaluate your credentials. The evaluation usually takes four to six weeks. The College will notify you about one of these three outcomes:
-
You have been certified. Once you pay the current annual membership fee, the College will register you as a member and issue you a licence to teach in Ontario's publicly funded elementary or secondary schools.
Your name will appear on the College's public register along with information about your qualifications and the type of certificate you hold. Personal information, such as your address, phone number and e-mail address are not be included.
Your degree will appear on your Interim Certificate of Qualification and Registration as it is listed on the transcript we receive from your postsecondary institution.
- We require more information. We will write to you for more information or clarification or write to the postsecondary institution. We will send you information about the request.
- Your application has not been accepted. The College will write to you that we are unable to certify you. The letter will include information about the requirements that you must fulfill and offer a number of resources to help clarify these requirements. You will have two years to complete them.
You also have the right to appeal the Registrar's decision.
If we are unable to certify you, you may ask for a meeting in person or by phone to discuss your evaluation and find out how you can meet the requirements.
